love when I get to review kids books because really reading to my kids is one of my favorite things in the world. I started collecting kids books when I was still in High School. I just knew that someday I would have a lot of little bookworms just like me. And guess what? I do!
Today I get to share with you a really fun new kids book, Firehouse by Mark Teague.
Join Edward and his cousin Judy as they spend a hilarious day learning how to be firefighters. From a fire drill that leads to a slippery slide down a fire pole, to a hysterical battle with an out-of-control fire hose, Edward is in for an action-packed adventure. And when faced with a real emergency, can Edward save the day?
My children love this book. We have read it repeatedly and they love the silly antics of these Firehouse Dogs. I love that the pictures are of all kinds of dogs, male and female. It shows my daughters that they can work in a Firehouse someday too if they want.
You may recognize the illustrations if you have read any of the How Do Dinosaurs books.
This book is perfect for beginning readers, Seth loves to read it to his sisters. It is also great for just looking at the pictures and laughing, which is something we like to do a lot.Mark Teague is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator. His books include Funny Farm, a 2009 Parents’ Choice Silver Award Picture Book; Daer Mrs. Larue, the 2002 Book Sense Illustrated Book of the Year; Detective Larue; Larue for Mayor; and Pigsty. He is also the illustrator of the New York Times bestselling How Do Dinosaurs series by Jane Yolen. Mark lives in New York State with his wife and daughters

ReplyDeleteMy favorite children's book? Oh man...my favorite is still Little Women, but I think for reading with younger children, my pick would be "Don't Let the Pidgeon Drive the Bus" by Mo Willems. The kids always get into it and think it's hysterical. I love all his books. :)
My kids' favorite books are: Goodnight Moon, The Runaway Bunny, and Brown Bear Brown Bear What do you see?. They love the pictures and love to read along with me.
ReplyDeleteWe LOVE Sandra Boynton. Our favorite is Blue Hat, Green Hat. Mostly because Sammy has it memorized and can "read" it to us, as well!

ReplyDeleteI am so lucky, I get to read kids books all day long, and I even get paid for it! One of my favorite books to read for storytime (and to my own kids)is Crazy Hair by Neil Gaiman. It's an easy read-aloud book that has great images (and lots of silly ones) and though I love Brown Bear, Brown Bear too, this is one that not many people have read.
